G - EXCESSIVE ENGINE FLARE

Condition Probable Causes Suggested Remedies
Excessive Engine Flare 1. Trimmer valve sticking. 1. Replace or rebuild control valve body assembly. Inspect trimmer valves and confirm correct springs.
2. Trimmer valves and/or trimmer valve springs incorrect or weak. 2. Confirm correct trimmer valves and trimmer valve springs.
3. Selected range clutch defective. 3. Overhaul transmission.
4. Hook-type sealring broken. 4. Replace sealrings.
5. Shift points too low. 5. Check trimmer valves and confirm correct trimmer valve springs.
6. Forward clutch piston seals leaking or clutch plates slipping (all upshifts). 6. Overhaul forward clutch and piston assembly.
7. Governor valve sticking. 7. Clean or replace governor screen and/ or governor.
