C - ABNORMAL STALL CHECK SPEEDS

Condition Probable Causes Suggested Remedies
High Stall Speeds 1. Transmission fluid level low. 1. Add transmission fluid to proper level. (Be sure dipstick calibration is correct for specific model.)
2. Clutch pressure low.* 2. Refer to Chart E, Low Pressures.
3. Forward clutch slipping (forward)*. 3. Rebuild forward clutch.
4. First clutch slipping*. 4. Rebuild first clutch.
5. Fourth clutch (third clutch in V730) slipping (reverse). 5. Rebuild fourth clutch (or third clutch in V 730).
6. Low clutch slipping (5 speed)*. 6. Rebuild low clutch.
Low Stall Speeds 7. Engine not performing efficiently (may be due to plugged or restricted fuel injectors or high altitude conditions). 7. Refer to engine manufacturer's manual or vehicle service manual.
8. Broken converter parts. 8. Replace or rebuild converter assembly. Note: Welded converter assemblies are not repairable and must be replaced as an assembly.
